Common Questions
For Patients Traveling to See Us
- Can I fly home after surgery?
- When you can fly depends on your procedure. For many surgeries we ask that you stay nearby for a period before flying home, so your healing is monitored and travel is safe. Dr. Castro will give you a specific timeline for your procedure.
- Should someone travel with me?
- We recommend it. For the first stage of recovery, having someone to help with transportation and daily needs makes your stay easier and safer. If you are traveling alone, our team can help you arrange support.
- How long should I stay?
- It depends on your procedure, but as a general guide we suggest arriving at least one day before surgery and staying one to two weeks, so your pre-operative visit, surgery, and early follow-up all happen close by. Your consultation includes guidance specific to your surgery.
- Can follow-up visits be virtual?
- Your most important early visits are best done in person, here in Newport Beach. Once you return home, some follow-up can often be handled by phone or video when appropriate. Your follow-up plan is set with you during your consultation.
